I am the owner and author behind All Things Exceptional. I am also a mother and teacher of children with special needs. I have 3 children – one girl and two boys. My middle son has Autism, Epilepsy, and a few other health conditions. He truly inspires me. I also have a brother and many relatives with intellectual disabilities and/or on the spectrum. I can sincerely relate to the families I work with and genuinely love all things ESE or Exceptional Student Education (hence my business name).
I have been teaching for over a decade. My experiences include resource, self-contained, and Learning Strategies (secondary). All my classroom experiences except Learning Strategies have been at the elementary level. Working with younger students motivates me. I have a chance to help them build a strong foundation. I have also taught Kindergarten, worked with Pre-Kindergarten while I was in college, and have been a Media Specialist and a MTSS Referral Coordinator.
I have a Masters in Exceptional Student Education (ESE). I hold certifications in ESE K – 12, Elementary Education K – 6, ESOL Endorsement, and a Reading Endorsement. I am working to obtain an Autism Endorsement. I would like to pursue my doctorate in the future. My hobbies include crafting, watching crime shows, and traveling.
